Monash Gene Targeting Facility
Animal ethics and OGTR approval
The Monash Gene Targeting Facility comes under the jurisdiction of the Monash Medical Centre Animal Ethics Committee A. We have standard operating procedures approved by the committee for the production of genetically modified animals that are heterozygous for the targeted allele. We will obtain ethics approval only for the work to be done at this facility. Ethics approval for subsequent animal experimentation must be obtained by the client from the appropriate animal ethics committee prior to transfer of the animals to your facility.
All projects require approval from the Monash Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) and the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator. We will obtain Exempt Dealing approval from the IBC for knockouts and Notifiable Low Risk Dealing approval from the OGTR to cover the work we do.
