High Content Cell Discovery and Screening Facility
High content screening is a sophisticated, state-of-the-art method used to identify modulations of cell biology and develop new therapeutics. The new High Content Cell Discovery and Screening Facility (HCSF) based at MIMR combines the advantages of high content screening with the development of genome-wide RNAi libraries and robotics to facilitate moderately high throughput delivery science and screening assays. It is the first of its kind in Victoria and only the second in Australia.
The facility’s groundbreaking advancements in cell-based imagery in the context of living cells provide unique opportunities to further develop many of MIMR’s exciting research projects.
Based at MIMR, the facility was purchased with grants from the Victorian Government Department of Industry, Innovation and Regional Development, the Federal Government and Monash University. It is a partnership between MIMR, Monash University Departments of Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Pharmacology and Cell Biology, Monash Immunology and Stem Cell Centre and the Victorian Infectious Diseases Research Laboratories. Other researchers from the Monash Health Precinct and Monash University also have access.
What is the High Content Cell Discovery and Screening Facility?
Service The service provided includes:
- Consultation and advice for the development and validation of HCS assays
- Scanning and analysis of plates (96 or 384) with fluorescently stained cells
- Assessment of protein induction (antibody or reporter based)
- Nuclear translocation studies (antibody or tagged proteins)
- Apoptosis assays
- Viability/cell growth studies
- Whole genome siRNA library screens (mouse or human) using validated HCS assays.
Cost The Facility is available for use on a cost recovery basis. The cost will vary depending upon the precise assay and should be discussed with the Facility Manager.
A committee will prioritise and oversee project applications.
