Vitrification Workshop

21 January – 1 February 2008

Learn something new in 2008! Improve your skills and benefit your clinic!

Vitrification has been adopted by several leading Australian IVF clinics and has shown a marked improvement in their frozen embryo transfer results.

This workshop is designed for embryologists (research and clinical) who wish to improve their understanding of vitrification both theoretically and practically.  It will be lead by staff from Monash Institute of Medical Research, Monash IVF and Sydney IVF.
The workshop will provide lectures, tutorials and discussion groups that explore the theory and practice of vitrification and offers extensive hands-on practical skills development in vitrification and warming.

Provisional Program

Lecture Series

  • Theory of vitrification and slow cool freezing
  • History of vitrification and its use in preservation of ovarian slices oocytes, embryos, sperm and stem cells
  • Recent clinical experiences and success stories with embryo vitrification
  • Media and devises available for vitrification: knowing what is important?
  • Labelling, and storage of vitrified material; the importance of cryomapping
Practicals Course 1 & 2
  • Video demonstrations of vitrification
  • Preparation of media for vitrification and thawing
  • Hands on, one on one training for vitrification and thawing of mouse embryos.

Practicals Course 3

  • Independent practical skills training in vitrification, thawing and culturing of embryos.
  • Mouse oocytes and embryos of all stages available.

Course 1

$2000 AUD (for lectures series, demonstrations and 1 day practical)

21 and 22 January 2008

Course 2

$3000 AUD (for lecture series and week 1 practicals)

21-25 January 2008

Course 3

$5000 AUD (for lecture series and week 1 and 2 practicals)

21 January – 1 February 2008
