ES Cell International (ESI), a regenerative medicine company and world-leading provider of products and technologies derived from human embryonic stem (hES) cells, was successfully spun out of the Institute in July 2000.

Today, ESI has moved to a dedicated research and development facility in Singapore leased on the Biopolis facility.

ESI has assembled a world-class management and scientific team to capitalise on the opportunities that will emerge from this exciting technology and to generate value for ESI and its shareholders.

ESI owns six of the hES cell lines listed on the US National Institutes of Health Stem Cell Registry, and is achieving early commercial returns through the provision of these cell lines and related technologies to global research and therapeutic development resources on generating a cell replacement therapy for insulin-dependent diabetes sufferers, with additional scientific undertakings in the areas of neurology, cardiology and haematology.
