Outstanding Opportunity for Group Leaders in Reproductive Development
Group Leaders in Epigenetics, Pluripotency, Differentiation and Primordial Germ Cells. The Centre for Reproduction and Development, Monash Institute of Medical Research, Australia
Expressions of interest are invited from ambitious, early and mid-career, research scientists to lead programmes of independent research into epigenetics, pluripotency, differentiation and primordial germ cells at the Centre for Reproduction and Development (CRD), Monash Institute of Medical Research (MIMR).
The successful applicants will have a track record of attracting external grant funding and be at a stage in their careers where they have an Australian NHMRC or ARC Fellowship or Career Development Award or be strong candidates for support of this kind.
The successful applicants will be expected to have strong interests in gametogenesis, embryogenesis or stem cell biology and to interact with other investigators at CRD whose work concentrates on pluripotent stem cells, amnion stem cells, immunobiology and mitochondrial DNA transmission and replication. There will also be ample opportunity to interact with investigators within other research centres at MIMR.
MIMR consists of research centres specialising in research into cancer, innate immunity and infectious diseases, reproduction and development, women’s health and babies health and fetal physiology. MIMR has state-of-the-art research facilities, including in-house histology, human ES Cell Culture , FACS, and molecular biotechnology including DNA sequencing, denaturing high performance liquid chromatography (DHPLC), high throughput real time PCR, High Content Screening (HCS) and sophisticated microimaging.
MIMR has strong links to medical teams at Monash Medical Centre, Southern Health and is one of the major partners in the Monash Health Translation Precinct (MHTP). In May 2009 the Federal Government allocated $71m towards a proposal to build a dedicated translational research facility at MHTP to accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into best clinical practice. Successful applicants will receive a competitive salary, superannuation and a generous start up package. Direct inquires and expressions of interest to:
