PulmoSonix

The AirwayClear Upper Airway Patency Monitor has completed its clinical trial and AirwayClear I has proven the underlying principle of PulmoSonix' acoustic technology.
AirwayClear II, a second generation version of the airway patency monitor, is being co-developed with Invetech and underwent further clinical evaluation and use in sleep clinics during 2004.

PulmoSonix has expanded its pipeline of products under development. Three new products join the existing AirwayClear I and II (Upper Airway Patency Monitor) and PulmoSonde (Lung Inflation Monitor). These are AirwayClear III, PulmoScreen and VibroPulse.

The PulmoScreen is an exciting new device under development that utilises PulmoSonix' acoustic technology to detect early Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), including emphysema and chronic bronchitis.

These diseases are both characterised by reduced oxygen transfer due to changes in lung tissue. COPD is the fourth leading cause of death in the US and currently there is no effective early screening device for COPD.

In late 2004 Pulmosonix became a wholly owned subsidiary of its investor Premier Bionics Ltd. In 2005 it will focus on final product development and market entry of its AirwayClear products.
