Ron Evans Cancer Research Fellowship
Introduction
The Ron Evans Fellowship was created to honour the late Ron Evans AM.
Ron Evans, a Monash alumnus, was an outstanding administrator, businessman, sportsman and a devoted family man. He was a person of immense integrity, charisma and a dedicated philanthropist, who was held in high esteem by all who knew him.
The Ron Evan Cancer Research Fellowship was announced at the inaugural Ron Evans Golf Day in November 2007, by Professor Bryan Williams, Institute Director, Monash Institute of Medical Research (MIMR).
Centre for Cancer Research
At the Centre for Cancer Research, scientists are studying basic cancer biology in an effort to learn more about the growth and development of different cancers to discover new approaches to cancer prognosis and therapy.
The Centre for Cancer Research conducts its own research, collaborates closely with scientists throughout the Institute and across the Monash Health Research Precinct, to share expertise and resources to further understand a range of cancers including cancer of the breast, endometrium, ovary, stomach, prostate, bladder, kidney, colon and testis
Ron Evans Fellowship
Purpose
• To attract an early career researcher to the area of cancer research
• To enable an early career clinician or scientist to conduct cancer research in a supportive and dynamic environment.
• To foster an intellectual environment that will promote and enhance the research and intellectual skills of early career clinicians and scientists wishing to make research a key element of their careers.
Award Benefits and Conditions
The Ron Evans Cancer Research Fellowship will provide a stipend commensurate with qualifications and experience
The Fellowship will be offered, on a competitive basis, to suitably qualified University graduates to pursue research at the Institute’s Centre for Cancer Research.
The Fellowship will be advertised nationally and internationally, and will provide support for up to three (3) years. Annual review will be subject to evidence of satisfactory progress contained in a confidential annual report.
Support of the Ron Evans Cancer Research Fellowship must be acknowledged in all publications, presentations and public documents, relating to the research conducted under this Fellowship.
The successful applicant may be asked from time to time to assist with media and promotional activities relating to the Institute and the Ron Evans Cancer Research Fellowship.
