Ron Evans Golf Day

The annual Ron Evans Golf Day is held as a tribute to Ron Evans AM who passed away in 2007 after a battle with cancer.  The Ron Evans Golf Day is held to honour Ron’s life and to raise important funds for bowel cancer research.
Since its inception in 2007, funds raised from the Ron Evans Golf Day have enabled the Institute to establish the Ron Evans Cancer Research Fellowship and Ron Evans Cancer Research Scholarship, awarded to a post doctoral scientist and a PhD student who are conducting research into bowel cancer. The aim of the two awards are to develop a greater understanding of the growth and development of bowel cancer, and to potentially identify new therapeutic targets for treatment.
Each year, more than 120 people gathered at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club to participate in the Golf Day.  Members of Ron’s family, his friends and business associates together with supporters of MIMR enjoy a great day of golfing on the West Course.
Last year, David Evans and his family won the Ron Evans Golf Day Perpetual Trophy. MIMR is grateful for the support received from all participating teams and sponsors who helped to make this event a great success.
In 2011 the fifth annual Ron Evans Golf Day will be held on Monday 5 December. If you are interested in participating in this event, please download a registration form [link to rego form] or call 03 9902 4808 for more information.
We look forward to the 2011 Ron Evans Golf Day being bigger and better than ever, and continuing to make a difference to our bowel cancer research program.
