Dr Jane Girling BSc (Hons) PhD

Senior Scientist, Centre for Women's Health Research

Dr Jane Girling is a Senior Research Officer and Senior Scientist in the Centre for Women’s Health Research. She completed her PhD on uterine biology in reptiles in the Department of Zoology at the University of Otago, New Zealand in 1998. She then spent time as a postdoctoral fellow in the Conservation Endocrinology group at Massey University in New Zealand.

In 1999, Dr Girling was awarded a Science and Technology Postdoctoral Fellowship from the New Zealand Foundation for Research, Science and Technology. This enabled her to continue research on reproductive physiology in reptiles with Associate Professor Sue Jones and Roy Swain in the School of Zoology, University of Tasmania.

Dr Girling joined the Monash University Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2002. She has since held an Ella McKnight Fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (2005-2006). She is currently a co-chief investigator on an NH&MRC project grant (2006-2008) investigating hormonal control of angiogenesis, vascular maturation and lymphangiogenesis in the endometrium.
