Dr Trevor Wilson

Dr Trevor Wilson

Dr Trevor Wilson completed his PhD working on the Thymus at the Monash University Dept. of Pathology and Immunology. Following his Post-doc research in California, working on animal models of autoimmune disease, he returned to Monash. At MIMR he has built upon his strong immunology and molecular biology background to investigate genes which regulate the immune response, in particular, the Ets family of transcription factors. He has developed and utilized sophisticated genetically manipulated animal models, which allow the clarification of the roles of these genes in the pathogenesis of inflammatory disease. These studies have implications for understanding and treatment of diseases such as COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Sepsis, Arthritis, Type I Diabetes and also Down syndrome.

Trevor’s research interests closely parallel his projects within the CRC for Chronic Inflammatory Diseases, where he is leader of the in vivo target validation project, oversees production of mAb and is a member of the Project Management Committee.
