Dr Gareth Weston undertook his PhD at the Centre for Women’s Health Research from 2000-2003 where he engaged in a challenging laboratory based project applying gene expression microarrays to the study of gynaecological disease.
Currently, Gareth works as a clinician at Monash IVF where he performs delicate surgical procedures like tubal ligation reversals in women and vasectomy reversals in men. His main research interests are female-specific reproductive ailments such as endometriosis and fibroids along with editing a text book on OSCE (Objective Structural Clinical Examination) Techniques which aims to help students in today’s challenging medical training environment.
In 2007 Gareth Weston was appointed as a Carl Wood Senior Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Monash University. It will allow him to work more closely with students, introducing them to the cutting edge infertility treatments used both at Monash Medical Centre Clayton and Moorabbin where he operates.
