Prof Peter Rogers, Director, Centre for Women's Health Research

Professor Peter Rogers has worked in women’s health research since joining Monash University ’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1983. During the 1980s he worked as a research scientist for Monash IVF, where he held the position of Scientific Director from 1985-1987. Between 1989 and 2002 he led a collaborative research program with staff in the Human Reproduction Study Group at the University of Indonesia , acting as a consultant for the World Health Organisation Task Force on Long-Acting Systemic Agents for Fertility Regulation.

Professor Rogers is a founding Director of the Jean Hailes Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation providing important services for women from adolescence to mid-life and beyond. Formally established in Victoria in 1990, it is now regarded throughout Australia as a leader in women's healthcare.

Professor Rogers was appointed the inaugural Director of the Centre for Women’s Health Research in 2000. He has been an NHMRC Principal Research Fellow since 1996 and has active research interests in a range of female health issues, including endometriosis, uterine fibroids, menorrhagia and breast cancer and bladder disorders. In addition to his research, he is on the editorial board of the international journal, Angiogenesis.
