Dr Wilkinson graduated as an engineer in 1974 and with a PhD in1986 from Monash University. Since that time he has worked in a number of engineering and research positions in industry and academia both here and overseas. He is currently an honorary Research Fellow in the Ritchie Centre for Baby Health Research at Monash Institute of Medical Research.
Dr Wilkinson’s goal is to improve understanding of the medical problems of newborn infants by devising more effective treatments and monitoring instrumentation to improve clinical outcome. He has created many medical devices for the treatment of respiratory disorders, not only in newborn infants but also in the millions of adults worldwide who suffer from disordered breathing during sleep.
He is also a consultant to SIDS Victoria and to the Department of Human Services, Aged Care and Housing on SIDS and related issues.
