Former Clinical Director, Professor Victor Yu AM (MBBS, MSc (Oxon), MD, FRACP, FRCP (Lond, Edin, Glasg), FRCPCH, DCH, GradDipCS) did his clinical and research training in neonatology at Oxford University and McMaster University before his appointment as Director of Neonatal Intensive Care at Monash Medical Centre in 1976. He went on to become Professor of Neonatology in 1996 at Monash University which was the first Australian university to establish a Chair in Neonatology.
Throughout his career, Professor Yu AM has authored and edited 10 books and published 172 book chapters and 268 journal articles. He is associated editor of Early Human and Development and on the editorial board of four other medical journals. He has also been supervisor for postgraduate neonatal training to 200 overseas paediatricians from 41 countries.
Professor Yu AM has been President of the Australian Perinatal Society, President of the Federation of Asia and Oceania Perinatal Societies, Vice President of the World Association of Perinatal Medicine and consultant to the World Health Organisation in China and to the Hong Kong, Singapore and Brunei governments.
Upon retiring in January 2008 Victor Yu AM became an Honorary Research Fellow at the Monash Institute of Medical Research.
