Dr Cathryn Hogarth
Dr Cathryn Hogarth was awarded the New Investigator Award at the annual Society for Reproductive Biology conference in Christchurch New Zealand, 3-5 September 2007.
This is the highest award offered to a Reproductive Biologist who is within two years of finishing their PhD and is a member of the Society for Reproductive Biology.
Cathryn’s abstract was selected for an oral presentation in the prestigious New Investigator Award session where she ultimately topped a field of six finalists.
Cathryn completed her PhD at MIMR working with Associate Professor Kate Loveland in the Centre for Reproduction and Development. She has accepted a postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Professor Michael Griswold at Washington State University. The New Investigator Award includes funding for conference travel which Cathryn will use to help develop her research career in the US.
Dr Renea Taylor
The 2007 Monash University Distinguished Alumni Awards were presented on 31 August. Vice Chancellor & President, Monash University, Professor Richard Larkins presented the Distinguished Young Alumni Award to MIMR scientist Dr Renea Taylor. Dr Taylor was selected from a strong field of Monash graduates under the age of 35 years. Her research into prostate and cancer biology, combined with her active role in communicating science to the community gave her the winning edge in the inaugural year of this award. Renea’s research is conducted in the Centre for Urological Research at MIMR and the Monash Immunology and Stem Cell Laboratories at Clayton.
