Studying at MIMR: Honours programs
The Honours courses offered at MIMR aim to provide students with a higher level of experience in independent analysis and research in their chosen area of expertise.
Once you have completed your undergraduate degree, you can choose to do either a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) or a Bachelor of Science (Honours) program through MIMR. Both programs have two components:
- An advanced research project which provides an opportunity to carry out supervised study
- An advanced coursework component which builds on undergraduate studies and increases specialist knowledge in your specific area of research
Alternatively, students undertaking an undergraduate MBBS course can choose to undertake a Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) after completing at least the first two years of their degree. Graduate entry MBBS students are eligible after one year of study.
Firstly and most importantly, carefully choose an area (or areas) of research that interest and excite you. Thoroughly read the available student projects and the MIMR website to identify the Research Centres that have the project/s you are most interested in. Then call or email the relevant contact and arrange a time to chat about their research and meet their team. You can do this at anytime throughout the year. And don’t forget to make the most of Student Open Day; it’s a great way to explore the wide range of potential projects available.
