Studying at MIMR: PhD program
Students wishing to complete advanced research training should enroll for either a Research Masters or PhD. The pre-requisite for enrolment in these programs is an Honours degree HII A or HI or equivalent.
The PhD is completed entirely by laboratory research and is assessed by thesis. The assessment is made by examiners external to the department and selected because of their expertise in the field of research chosen by the candidate.
The duration of full-time candidature is between 24 months and 48 months maximum. Under normal circumstances, the candidate holds a scholarship which provides support for a maximum of 3.5 years. The degree is usually undertaken full time but there are provisions for part time candidates.
There may be departmental scholarships available. Contact individual supervisors for details of these. Information regarding scholarships is available to download. Generally, applications close on 31 October each year.
